All That and a Bag of Chips (ATABOC) played a nourishing set at Brothers Brewing Company on September 30. Mixing Latin, rock and roll, and pop, ATABOC performed a range of 90’s cover songs with a vibrancy not soon forgotten.

Walking into the venue mid-set on my birthday, I found Y Josephine playing a bright red Cuban güiro and absolutely owning the space with the band. If that wasn’t enough, Deigo (Daniel) Alvarado burst forward with a saxophone solo that led to hollers of appreciation all the way to the back of the bar.

Coming out of the pandemic, Josephine had to plot a new move, and with experience as a performer, she jumped back into the scene. While ATABOC started as an eclectic mix of past acquaintances (though Diego and Manuel Alvarado are brothers), they have quickly pulled together a tight, unique sound that should be the envy of any cover band today.

The plan was to stop in at Brothers for a pint of Exhibitionist draft after rushing back from The Big Smoke, but Y Josephine from Toronto beat me there and brought a wonderful surprise that was All That And a Bag of Chips. Thank you for the gift! You can find ATABOC on Instagram @allthatandabagofchipsband
